About Us

Inspired by the Heart of Home and Family

Our Home, Your Haven

Welcome to Hotel Castell de la Solana, a place where the warmth of home meets the tranquility of nature. Nestled in the heart of the stunning Jalon Valley, our hotel is more than just a destination – it’s a dream brought to life by Nanna, Hannu, and their loyal Boston Terrier, Deia.

Our Story

Nanna, an expert in sustainability, and Hannu, a seasoned hotel entrepreneur, both hail from Finland. Together, they realized their long-time vision of creating a paradise hotel in Spain, where their passion for hospitality and sustainability could thrive.

At the heart of their vision is a commitment to creating a space where every guest feels safe, valued, and cherished – just as they would in their own home. With every detail carefully considered, Hotel Castell de la Solana reflects their shared inspiration: the timeless values of home and family.

Our Purpose

At Hotel Castell de la Solana, our purpose is deeply rooted in the things we value most in life: meaningful connections, a sense of belonging, and the beauty of shared experiences. We’ve created a sanctuary where these ideals come to life, offering our guests a space to reconnect with themselves, their loved ones, and the world around them.

We believe in the power of simplicity, comfort, and authenticity – values that shape everything we do, from the thoughtful design of our spaces to the warm, personalized service we provide. It is our greatest joy to see our guests leave not only feeling rejuvenated, but also carrying memories that will stay with them forever.

Extension of our home

For us, Hotel Castell de la Solana is more than just a hotel – it’s an extension of our home. We look forward to welcoming you to this special place, where the beauty of nature, heartfelt hospitality, and the joy of meaningful moments come together.

Sustainability

Situated in the tranquil Jalon Valley, Castell de la Solana is deeply committed to preserving its pure and unspoiled environment for future generations. Sustainability is embedded in everything we do—from energy-efficient solar panels and sustainable architecture to constant efforts to reduce our water and carbon footprints.

Principles

1. Farm-to-Table: Fresh, Local, Sustainable

We partner with local producers, ensuring fresh, seasonal cuisine that supports the regional economy. Our own gardens supply a variety of olives, figs, herbs, and fruits, which we’re continually expanding to provide more of what we serve directly from our land.

2. Eco-Conscious Guest Experience

Guests at Castell de la Solana enjoy a worry-free stay, resting on Matri’s sustainably produced beds with eco-friendly linens. Our bathrooms feature Rituals products, which are not tested on animals and are made from natural ingredients. Every aspect of your stay is designed with care for both luxury and sustainability.

3. Employee Wellbeing

Our people are central to our success. We invest in our team’s personal and professional growth, fostering a culture of wellbeing. We encourage staff to take the lead in our sustainability initiatives and actively involve them in decision-making processes. Their passion for the environment and local community helps drive our mission forward.

4. Supporting the Local Community

At Castell de la Solana, we strengthen local ties by prioritizing partnerships with small-scale producers, artisans, and service providers. This not only reduces our environmental footprint but also helps sustain the local economy. We regularly host workshops, community events, and farm tours to connect guests with the region’s culture and craftsmanship, deepening their understanding of Jalon Valley’s heritage.

5. Responsible Tourism

Sustainability at Castell de la Solana is about more than reducing our environmental impact; it’s about creating a meaningful connection between our guests, our employees, and our local community. We continually seek innovative ways to conserve natural resources, minimize waste, and ensure that our tourism practices benefit both the environment and the people of the Jalon Valley.
